Griffith College ? Limerick Campus Graduation 2008

On November 19th 2008 at St Mary‘s Cathedral, in Limerick City Griffith College’s Limerick Campus celebrated the graduation of 120 of its students. The ceremony was attended by the students and their families, lecturers from the college, the president of Griffith College, Diarmuid Hegarty, Tomas MacEochagain, director of Griffith College, Kevin O’Sullivan director of the Limerick campus, Andrew Brigette, Higher Education and Training Awards Council(HETAC), Administration Manager and Councillor Kathleen Leddin, Deputy Mayor of Limerick.
A total of seven different groups graduated, some up to postgraduate level.
Three students from the college were honoured with special awards for their achievements: Yan Yan Zhou from the Higher Certificate in Business received the HETAC Student of the Year award; David O’Connor from the HND in Electrical and Electronic Engineering programme received the BTEC Edexcel Student of the Year Award and Adnan Javed Bhatti received the Overall Student of the Year Award.
In her speech Councillor Leddin welcomed the international students to Limerick and said the city was proud to host such a diversity of nationalities that came to here for their education.
The college president congratulated the graduates and expressed the hope that the qualifications they had gained at the college would afford them a platform to future education and worthwhile careers.
Catering was provided after the ceremony and this afforded the students and their families an opportunity to mingle with college staff and guests in the magnificent surroundings of the Cathedral.
