The hallowed nave of St Mary’s Cathedral was the setting for the recent graduation ceremony for students of Griffith College (incorporating the Mid West Business Institute). College registrar, Ambrose Downey, said that since the incorporation of the Mid West Business Institute into the Griffith College Group, the college is now in a prime position to offer a broader range of courses at higher levels on a full-time and part-time basis to students in the region.
"We are delighted to witness such a large number of international students graduating with qualifications in disciplines spanning business, management, accounting and finance, psychology, law, engineering and computing, said Mr Downey who continued:
"Their presence has brought new challenges and an excitement to the educational experience on offer at Griffith College, Limerick. The growth in the number of students attending the college from all over Ireland, Europe and beyond, will extend the reputation and success enjoyed by this college since it was originally established in 1974. Congratulating the graduates, Mr Bridgett said the conferring ceremony was a fitting tribute to their hard work and achievement, and also paid tribute to the support of families and friends.
"The National Framework of Qualifications has afforded graduates the opportunity to progress in a transparent way to higher level qualifications on the framework at Griffith and other institutes of higher education in Ireland,” he said.
Three graduates were recognised for their academic achievements by the college. They were: William McMahon of Somerville, Pallaskenry, John Kelly, Shanabooly Road, Ballynanty and Richard McMahon, Newmarket-on-Fergus.
